To inbound tourists, Myrtle Beach has a message: The wildfires should not affect your vacation plans.

The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce issued an advisory Thursday that the flames do not impact coastal tourism, only travel to, and in a portion of, North Myrtle Beach.

Chamber officials want visitors to know the Myrtle Beach International Airport, golf courses and most hotels are not affected.

"We do not expect this to affect tourism in the long or short term," said chamber chief executive Brad Dean in a written statement.

Dean's executive assistant, Kate Miles, said one chamber member who owns rental properties said 90 percent of his calls Thursday came from en-route visitors concerned about their plans. Most, Miles said, kept their reservations.

"We're just trying to get the message out that it's a very isolated area" impacted by fires, she said. "As far as travel and tourists coming, everything is open."

According to the article most of the major attractions like the golf courses will not be affected by the fires so it should not affect toursim to harshly.
The fires affect mostly North Myrtle Beach whereas most of the major hotspots are in Coastal Myrtle Beach which means that tourists will still be able to padrticipate in their favorite activities there. As far as this article states, fires will not have much of an impact on Myrtle Beach tourism

Child safety is a important to me. And it's people like the parents of this child that make me angry. Times may be rough but i'm sure you can buy your baby a carseat and if not someone you know has to have one. Never leave a house like this!

How ironic that someone could claim go green while driving a gas guzzling hummer. I don't really care if someone goess green or not, but if juo're going to advertise it you probably shouldn't be driving a hummer. That's just me

This is what is happening to Americans and might be the reason for the current drinking age. I totally disagree with the law. if you're are old enough to be declared an adult and can be out on your own, you should have the choice of whether or not to drink at 18. However this picture is pretty funny!

Importance of Distribution Channels
As noted, distribution channels often require the assistance of others in order for the marketer to reach its target market. But why exactly does a company need others to help with the distribution of their product? Wouldn’t a company that handles its own distribution functions be in a better position to exercise control over product sales and potentially earn higher profits? Also, doesn’t the Internet make it much easier to distribute products thus lessening the need for others to be involved in selling a company’s product?

While on the surface it may seem to make sense for a company to operate its own distribution channel (i.e., handling all aspects of distribution) there are many factors preventing companies from doing so. While companies can do without the assistance of certain channel members, for many marketers some level of channel partnership is needed. For example, marketers who are successful without utilizing resellers to sell their product (e.g., Dell Computers sells mostly through the Internet and not in retail stores) may still need assistance with certain parts of the distribution process (e.g., Dell uses parcel post shippers such as FedEx and UPS). In Dell’s case creating their own transportation system makes little sense given how large such a system would need to be in order to service Dell’s customer base. Thus, by using shipping companies Dell is taking advantage of the benefits these services offer to Dell and to Dell’s customers.

This source talks about the different channels of distribution and gives an example of how Dell sells computers using the Internet as one of their channels. They go from the manufacturer, to FedEx to your home. That is one channel of distribution for Dell computers

The new theme would maybe help business but it also has potential to hurt the business. with the Hard Rock Theme park it already had a solid target market, but with changing the theme comes changing the target. Now the customers it had before may not choose to return or they may choose to return, right now it's up in the air. I would add some roller coasters. I know when i go to theme parks or amusement parks i like to have a nice choice among coasters. Now that it isn't associated with Hard Rock it might be a little harder to get tourists to come to the park. However since Myrtle Beach is an attraction it's only a matter of time before the new theme park is mentioned while tourists are at the beach.
